Do Right

The Alliance for Climate Protection today released a new national television ad, Do Right, encouraging Americans to support the path away from foreign oil and toward clean energy now.

Every president since Richard Nixon has called for an energy policy less reliant on foreign sources. Now, the ad says, is the best time for us to act to ensure our country develops clean energy sources that protect our planet and helps our national security and creates– jobs when the country is in need of a sustainable economic recovery.

    Why are we still …
Why are we still addicted to oil? Becasue many politicians get campaign contributions from oil companies and the federal gov allows auto makers to build fuel gulping cars. We need to tighten fuel economy regulations and people need to realize that oil will not last forever.

  • TravvyG:

    In Clean Green …
In Clean Green Energy Australia will be better off with that GeoThermal technology but the power companies will have to do their research on Australias Geology cause of the 100s of old Fault lines that they could awake if that is possible but it’s still better to be safe then sorry ^_^. It’s bad enough getting woken up by are dog barking then a Earthqauke haha

  • funkor:

    Or maybe Exxon …
Or maybe Exxon Mobil pays scientists to cast doubt on peer-reviewed, sound science.

And for some reason you think this science is more valid and trustworthy than the original science.

East Coast liberal filth is just insane.

I see what you mean …
I see what you mean, but I was excited to see this because t is an approach that some rural Americans might hear. they would NOT appreciae being called hoi anything. WE The PEOPLE include plaid collar workers, Pink Collars, LACE socks…and those of us who give a hoot about Democracy will work hard to reach out, across many miles and cultural barriers.

    Who’s the actor? I …
Who’s the actor? I used to work with him in CA. His first name is Lee.

    Rep. Lundgren (R- …
Rep. Lundgren (R- Ca) just said he wrote a bill to give a BILLION dollars to a “US incorporated” car company that gets 100 mpg… So how STUPID IS THAT? Typical “conservatism” – THROW HUGE MONEY at corporations that are ALREADY subsidized by the US to get them to produce WHAT PEOPLE WANT, and will HELP America’s… and the World’s…SECURITY, instead of ONLY producing what the oil/energy companies allow. Obama declared war on oil with 34mpg CAFE standards so fast, & Insur Ind w/Pub Health.

  • hangdsobs:

    And if Gore HADN’T …
And if Gore HADN’T invested in Green energy…uh…for the last 30 years…Would people be CLAIMING it was all a scam if Gore himself wouldn’t invest in it? Of COURSE they would.

Two college kids added another battery to a Prius and got OVER 150mpg. GM has a 40mile (electric only) hybrid Hummer! But they are going to sell Hummer & produce a SMALL 40 mile (electric-only) hybrid VOLT!

Now you know 1 reason why the CEO of GM had to be FIRED! My ’90 med-sized Pontiac Bonneville got 24 mpg.

    Black is white. War …
Black is white. War is Peace. The energy companies are shining bastions of progress and environmental protection who have not been fighting stricter standards on pollution for 40 years. I don’t get your motive.

  • acidtrashy:

    Al gore has massive …
Al gore has massive stakes in energy trading companies. His selfless gestures are smoke and mirrors.

  • cypheri0n:

    I understand your …
I understand your definition of “immoral”. I just think it is somewhat out of place. Morality is a subjective perspective. You are seeing an entire organization through the lense of YOUR morality. That is the same mistake that you are attributing to the conservatives. Simply because your definition is more acceptable to you doesn’t make it any more right.

I, for one, would not agree that fear of dictators is unhealthy.

  • funkor:

    It is not …
It is not acceptable to use nuclear anywhere until we figure out how to shorten the half life of the nuclear fuel. We are not there yet.

  • funkor:

    It seems like you …
It seems like you are emboldened by the suggestion of these things by powerful people, but I assure you that the Nobel Peace prize is not a hack prize. And I assure you that Al Gore had no need of any monetary gain from environmental causes.

Al Gore has stated, “Tipper and I are devoting 100 percent of the profits from the book and the movie to a new bipartisan educational campaign to further spread the message about global warming.”

If people make money from sustainable energy, good.

  • 5ezpzez:

    Really? Really??

    Really? Really??
But it is acceptable for Iran,France,Germany,Holland, N.Korea, etc… uh, the last time I checked, those countries were part of this planet.

  • 5ezpzez:

    Really? Really??? …
Really? Really??? He made a FORTUNE & got a hack prize, too boot.

There is no altruistism involved in this, it is PURELY about MONEY.

I DID question the money-oriented corporation in my second sentence.

  • funkor:

    The idea, 5ezpzez …
The idea, 5ezpzez and OldTimeRockRoll1969, that somehow the motivation of not altering our planet’s climate is monetary is laughable. Al Gore didn’t do An Inconvenient Truth to make money. No other celebrities are making speeches to make money.

The thing that makes this new idea laughable is that there ARE people promoting science in order to make money — Exxon Mobil and other energy companies. Why do you question the altruistic movement and not the money-interested corporation?

  • funkor:

    The only problem …
The only problem with nuclear power, and it’s a killer for me, is that the waste lasts thousands or millions of years. That is unacceptable for our future inheritors of the planet.

  • 5ezpzez:

    This is so much …
This is so much bullshit. This is all about GE and their stupid windmills.
If nuclear energy is just peachy for Iran & N.Korea, then it should be just fine for the US. But,n-n-n-n-o-o-o-o-o-o, the same pukes that embrace nuclear reactors for those countries and Europe, too, they discredit the safety of nuke energy here in America.

Fuck this old fraud, I am sick of seeing his face…

  • OldTimeRockRoll1969:

No matter if its a …
No matter if its a natural thing going on or truly from all the CO2 gases from CARS! And the factories, Or a combination of both, the world is in deep chit no matter which it is.

And because of the scientist, politicians, celebrities, etc, that are taking advantage of it and US with all of their paid speaking engagements.
It is making some people not belive that climate change and global warming is real.

They MUST stop being paid to make their case!

  • farmakidis1:

    So strong and so …
So strong and so true. We have been going down this same road for too long, and they only reason we keep going is because of special interests, not because of the interests of the American People.

    It’s spam.
    It’s spam.

    Don’t be such a …
Don’t be such a negative “seer,” it’s great progress! You should commend them! I don’t like coffee but if I could I’d go! If we don’t all get off the grid soon then living will be impossible for America. Don’t you see the sun come up every day? It lights up the whole neighborhood. Take a look around and tell me what you see. If you see what I mean you have the power to change.

  • funkor:

    What do you think …
What do you think this accomplishes? I think I would purposely not go to your coffee shop because you posted here. Good work on building solar coffee shops, but this is not a good place to advertise.

  • canadiceconstruction:

    Canadice …

  • funkor:

    You’re not quite …
You’re not quite getting what I say when I say “immoral”. That means you don’t use that method to advertise even if it’s very effective. They are not targeting me, but they are representing me as I’m a member of this organization. Fear of foreigners, dictators, communists is unhealthy.

  • WAKeele:

    Trust me, I know, I …
Trust me, I know, I grew up in small-town Tennessee. This ad is perfect for appealing to those where I’m from. I guess I’m saying it’s sad this type of ad is needed to begin with. I shouldn’t be concerned at all, but my study of the world’s history just gets me a little riled up when religion is involved–and I use to be, for the most part, the type of person this ad is aimed at–go figure what some studying and world travel will do for a person once their mind is opened up to other thoughts.
