There’s plenty of oil, that’s what the 1,124 represents.
The problem is finding it and spending less energy to harvest it then it takes to get it. The easy stuff is gone. That’s why we are messing with tar sands and drilling holes 3 miles into the ocean floor.

Uh, just as a significant portion of what is being pumped right now was a few decades ago. Apparently you’re assuming that technological development will stop dead.

Well young lady, according to the Department of Energy, undeveloped domestic oil resources still in the ground total about 1,124 billion barrels. Even at 20 million barrels a day, that’s about 150 years worth of oil. And, of course, that’s just the amount that is known right now. Technology is improving, for both discovery and efficiency of usage, so we shouldn’t have any problem accessing that and more, and as has always happened, the cost will ultimately go down.

the oil rig JACK 2 in the gulf – all by itself -doubled the US oil reserves. Canadian shale oil (abit pricey) is triple the reserves of Iran. The US/North America has enough oil. The Green lobby fights drilling. Let’s drill ANWAR now, Let’s drill the Shelf now, let’s build wind mills, we need about 100 NEW nuc plants now. That would help turn the middle east back into the desert it should be.
