How to Make Solar Panel – A Quick And Easy 101 Guide to Solar Energy Production

http://www.SolarEnergyGuide.net – How to Make Solar – A Quick And Easy 101 Guide to Solar Energy Production
Making a solar at home is quite a daunting task and something that shouldn’t be attempted without fully committing oneself to a great deal of work. It may not be rocket science but it is certainly a tricky and laborious process. If you are the type of person who thinks a hammer is nothing but am odd-shaped door stop, it may be in your best interest to leave the solar construction to professionals.

Having said that, making your own solar s can really be a rewarding home project and by taking on such a project yourself you can significantly cut your costs – by 50 to 80% – over a commercially available solar .

Since the prohibitive cost of solar s is in large part due to the high price of solar cells, you will achieve most of your cost reduction by purchasing damaged and used solar cells from sites such as Ebay. After that, using your ingenuity and some handy DIY skills, the only thing between you and a working solar is time and effort.

For now however, let’s take on a much more simple task and make a single solar cell. This project is great fun and can show the basic and simple concept behind solar energy.

What You Will Need:

1. Copper sheeting.
2. Two alligator clip lead cables.
3. A sensitive micro-ammeter you can find this at Radio Shack.
4. An electric stove or a one burner hot plate should you have a gas stove . If you are buying a hot plate make sure it’s at least 1100 watts.
5. A large clear plastic bottle. Think 2 Liter Coke or Mineral Water bottles with the top cut off.
6. A few tablespoons of salt.
7. Water.
8. Sand paper, steel wool or a wire brush attachment for an electric drill.
9. Metal sheers.

How It’s Done: Cut a piece of copper sheeting at approximately the size of the stove burner. Make sure to thoroughly clean the copper sheet using sandpaper or steel wool to remove any sulfide and/or light corrosion. Heat the copper sheet on the burner on the highest heat setting As the copper increases its’ temperature the color will turn black with a layer of cupric oxide. This is normal. Let the copper “cook” for around 30 minutes. After 30 minutes turn of the burner and let the copper cool. It will shrink – also quite normal. The black cupric oxide will begin to flake and detach as both the oxide and copper shrink. It will take approximately 20 minutes for the copper to cool, at which point you will need to remove any excess cupric oxide black film left on the copper. You can scrub lightly with your hands under your tap. At this point cut another piece of copper at exactly the same size and dimensions as the “cooked” copper. Place both copper sheets into the plastic bottle, bending them carefully to fit and ensuring they do not touch. Attach the two alligator clips to each sheet, connecting the positive lead from the “Clean copper sheet” to the positive terminal of the meter, and the negative lead the “cooked” copper sheet to the negative terminal of the meter. Mix your 2 tablespoons of salt in with some hot water. Stir until the salt is dissolved. Carefully pour the salt water into the plastic bottle being careful to avoid pouring onto the leads. A good rule of thumb is to leave at least an inch between the water and the leads so you can move around the device with relative ease.

A solar cell is a battery, so you can expect that even in the dark your meter will show a few microamps of current. Don’t expect that it will light a baseball field though, and it would take acres of these literally to power your house. I sincerely doubt there would be enough power generated by this to power a light bulb. However, once you put this device in the sunlight you will see the meter jump to 30+ microamps of current – which would be enough to use your new solar cell as a light meter or light detector.

Before you begin, there are quite a few things to bear in mind, and of them is being open to trying new stuff and this will definitely increase your chances of achieving your goals. The making of your own solar panel can be done with the help of your family members and thus, it can be a great cohesion day altogether. In addition, the use of a solar panel can help you save a huge sum of money and also protect the environment at the same time.Take a look at some of the many benefits home solar power systems can provide you and our environment:Green energy: When you use solar energy, you will realize that it uses absolutely no fuel other than the sun’s light. Moreover, it does not release into the atmosphere anything harmful.Affordability: Energy comes free. The installation cost is a one-time cost. Therefore, the investment is recovered within a few years of installation, making the power generated by solar energy absolutely free.Ease of use: You cannot store conventional power but you can store solar power for future use.Low on maintenance: The home solar power systems are easy to maintain. They do not involve high costs or too much effort, thus letting you reap the benefits of the solution comfortably.Free and renewable: With solar energy, you can lower or even eliminate your monthly electricity bills. Increase the value of your property: The price of your house tend to worth much more with the implementation of solar power systems.

Basically, solar panels are dependent on sun energy to function; therefore, the most ideal location to position your panels is none other than on the roof of your home. However, there can be also other alternative locations such as on an empty piece of land that is close to the main area. The main point to take note here is that the solar panels have to be accurately angled to face the sun’s direction. This is to ensure that the solar panels receive maximum exposure to direct sun rays.
There are tons of companies out there selling DIY solar installation guides and this has made the installation process of solar panels cheap and very much efficient. With step-by-step instructions provided along with video tutorials, learning how to build a solar panel has never been easier than this approach. The cost for this DIY installation guides costs at a reasonable price of no more than $50 and the overall costs for the materials required for the building process won’t take more than $200.

Residential Wind Power – Conserve and Preserve With a Renewable Energy Source

http://www.WindEnergyGuide.net – Residential Wind Power – Conserve and Preserve With a Renewable Energy Source
Our dependence on fossil fuels – coal, oil and natural gas – is taking its toll on the environment. The increasing demand and dwindling supply of fossil fuels are driving costs up. Soon we will need to turn to renewable energy sources such as residential Wind power to provide electricity to our homes.

When it comes to using the sun’s energy, many individuals do not consider it as an option simply because they think it will be too complicated or too expensive. While that may have been true many years ago, today, residential Wind power is within everyone’s reach. In fact, many individuals have successfully designed and built their own Wind power system using do-it-yourself guides.

So how do we convert energy from the sun into power for our homes? Honestly, it is something that is very amazing. Electricity is created by using Wind panels that consist of photovoltaic (PV) cells. Photovoltaic means “light electricity.” While this might sound very scientific, don’t let the big words fool you. The PV cells convert energy from the sun into power for your home. This energy is typically enough to power most of your appliances and electronics.

You can build a Wind panel to provide residential Wind power for as little as two hundred dollars. Chances are that your electric bill is around two hundred dollars each month. A single Wind panel, while it won’t power your entire home, can reduce the overall cost of your electric bill every year, making it a viable source of renewable energy for your home.

When switching to Wind power for your home, you can cut your electric bill down to as much as eighty five percent (85%). How does that sound for “going green?” Depending on where you live, you might even generate more power than you need. Under these circumstances, you can sell the excess power back to your electric company. Now, instead of paying them, they pay you!

There was a time when no one ever imagined that we could use an abundant and free resource such as the sun to power our homes. Now, it seems as if it is one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources around. Thousands of people throughout the world are starting to use residential Wind power. It just makes perfect sense to harness the power from the sun and turn it into electricity, don’t you think?

Discover how you can harness the power of the sun and reduce your electricity bill with an economical residential Wind power system. Join the ranks of many striving to go green and clean to protect our environmental machine. Find out how at
